From the desk of Principal Hale....
Welcome to the 2009-2010 School Year!
This school year promises to be exciting with many changes in store. Our new additions are progressing nicely. The 4-room addition to the current secondary wing will be completed for us to use when school begins August 10. The rooms are very spacious and fit well with the rest of the building. We will have flexibility to again have an Art Classroom and a Music Classroom. Last year’s growth forced us to use every room in the building as a regular classroom leaving no space for special classes to meet. Even if we continue the same rate of growth, the new addition will get the school year started off well. The new wing to our building will be completed in December and could be occupied second semester if needed. It will include a new Computer Lab, an Art Lab, and a Practical Living Classroom.
Growth in the secondary population has allowed us to employ an additional teacher giving more flexibility in scheduling. We will continue to pursue a precollege curriculum by adding a required course in Arts & Humanities. The addition of this class makes our transition complete as our graduation requirements now exceed the Kentucky Department of Education Precollege Curriculum requirements. Our requirement of 4 credits of math, science, and social studies exceed the state requirement of 3 credits each, giving us the status of a “rigorous curriculum”. This will aide our students as they compete for scholarships and college admission.
We welcome the return of Mrs. Kelly Taylor as our Librarian. In addition to Mrs. Taylor, we have added Kerri Jenkins, a certified physical education teacher; Ashley Adcock, an elementary certified teacher to work in kindergarten; and Kerri Adkins, certified in Biology and Chemistry to work in grades 7-12. Each of these teachers has a strong Christian testimony and a desire to work in a Christian school.
Please continue to pray for our students, staff, and families. These are trying economic times for many families. Pray that our enrollment will continue to grow as we serve the Lord. God has been so good to us. We want to continually praise Him.
Sincerely,
John Hale
