On Saturday, November 14th, the high school JV Academic Team competed in Section 11 of the JV Challenge tournament at South Laurel High School in London, KY. Other high schools in our section included: Corbin, South Laurel, Knox Central, Middlesboro, Bell County, Whitley County, and Williamsburg. Somerset Christian School went undefeated in Quick Recall and won several medals in testing. Overall, SCS won 1st place in the tournament with a total of 70 points! This happened to be 50 points higher than the runner-up team from Corbin. Out of all 13 sections of JV Challenge across the state, SCS placed 4th behind Paul Lawerence Dunbar, Campbell County, and Dupont Manual. The following are the students who placed in their testing area.

Science

*Taken by Ben Rice, Clay Huffman, and Emily Cox

*We did not place in Science because there was a misprint in the testing book and half of the test had to be disregarded after all students had finished the test. (Definitely not my idea!) We are sure that we would have placed if 100% of the Science test had been graded!

A big congratulations to the high school Academic Team! This team is very impressive to watch during Quick Recall. If they are placing 4th in the state right now out of all competing schools, just imagine what they will do when they are seniors! By the way, after the awards ceremony, another coach from another school came up to me and asked about our curriculum! Pretty cool, right?
