Grades 7-12: Students in grades 7-12 may use cell phones in accordance with the following guidelines:
• Cell phones may be used during breaks and during lunch with ring tones set to silent.
• Cell phones may only be used in the classroom with the teacher's permission.
• If a cell phone contains an l-Pod, video or still camera, or other recording device, that device cannot be used during the school day without the teacher's permission.
• Headphones and Bluetooth-type devices are prohibited at school.
• Cell phones must be powered off during instructional time
• Cell phones and cameras cannot be used in the restrooms, locker rooms, or for any other illicit or immoral activity. This is a zero tolerance violation and may constitute sexual harassment.
• Cell phones must be placed in the student's locker during regularly scheduled exams.
• Consequences for failure to adhere to the policy:
1. First offense= warning.
2. Second offense = detention and parents are notified.
3. Additional infractions = detention, loss of Merit Trip. Cell phone privileges on campus are revoked for the remainder of the semester.
