SOMERSET CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

Hello!

Welcome to the Somerset Christian School Website. We appreciate your interest in our school. The school was established by the Pastor’s Council in 2002. Classes began in 2004 in one of our local churches. This will be our 7th year on campus in this tremendous facility situated on a 76-acre campus. Enrollment has grown from 168 charter members to 338 students during the 2010-2011 School Year.

We offer preschool – grade 12 classes and have continued to improve our course offerings each year. In our high school, we offered Advanced Placement World History this past year. 5 students took the AP Exam and all 5 scored high enough to qualify for college credit! This year, we will offer AP Biology and AP US History. We have 3 Governor’s Scholars, 6 Rogers Explorers, 2 students received Duke TIP State Recognition, 1 student was selected for the Gatton Math and Science Academy at Western Kentucky University, and 1 student was selected for the Commonwealth Honors Academy at Murray State University.  The Science Olympiad Team captured 3rd place and our Academic Team qualified for the Governor’s Cup Finals in 3 areas. Our ACT, Plan Test, Explore Test, and SAT-10 Year-End Assessment scores are all well above the national averages at all grade levels.

We have added several teams to our athletic program, now offering Varsity and Junior Varsity Boys and Girls Basketball. Our boys’ team captured the KCAA Regional Championship and played in the KCAA State Tournament Elite Eight for the 1st time as Somerset Christian School. We continue to offer soccer, volleyball, softball, baseball, grappling, cross country, and cheerleading.

Most importantly, our curriculum includes a Bible class each day at every grade level, Chapel once a week, instruction that emphasizes the Christian founding of this nation in our Social Studies classes and God’s role as Creator in our science classes.

Sincerely,

John Hale, Principal
